What was it that brought the Magi from the East to a little town in Palestine? Who were the wise men? Did they follow a visible star to Jerusalem?

In ancient times a planet was called a “wandering star,” a meteor was a “shooting star,” and a comet was a “hairy star” – because its tail looked like a beard! These stars are all candidates for the Christmas Star, but which could it have been?

Produced by the Eugenides Foundation, Star of Bethlehem seeks answers to these questions as audiences search for the celestial object that could have led the wise men to the Christ child.

Star of Bethlehem, now showing in the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Planetarium, explores historical and scientific facts to unravel the 2,000-year old mystery of the Christmas Star through an incredible audiovisual display featuring popular Christmas carols the whole family can enjoy. If you’re looking for things to do for Christmas this holiday season, make plans to visit the State Museum to enjoy this special experience!

Show Run Time: 25 minutes.
