International Observe the Moon Member Night

October 15

Fri., Oct. 15, from 7-10 p.m.

Members are invited to an exclusive evening event featuring night sky viewing and a Lunar Live Sky planetarium experience! Not a member? Join Today!

This special evening will be held in conjunction with International Observe the Moon Night, which is a worldwide celebration of all things lunar that takes place every Fall. Weather permitting, the observatory will be showing live video views of the Moon through the historic Alvan Clark telescope. Health and safety precautions will be in place and capacity inside the observatory will be limited to facilitate social distancing.

The Moon is not the only object we will be able to see. Jupiter and Saturn will be visible as well. All three will be in the same area of the sky, forming a sort of lopsided triangle to the south.

At 8 p.m., members are also invited to enjoy an exclusive Lunar Live Sky planetarium experience. In this 30 minute presentation, a museum space educator will scan the constellations to find where the Moon is in the current night sky and explore the lunar surface by taking a quick trip to Earth’s nearest neighbor.

Night-sky viewing is free for museum members. No RSVP required for this event. Lunar Live Sky show tickets are first come, first serve and can be purchased at the special member price of $4 each or members may redeem their comp show tickets on arrival at the museum.

Please be sure to stay updated online about our health and safety guidelines.
