Visit the State Museum on Tuesday nights to enjoy special programs, exhibits, planetarium and 4D theater shows, and more after hours.

Please note: planetarium, 4-D Theaters shows and blockbuster exhibit tickets are an additional $5 each.

The Martian 4D Experience® – NEW SHOW!

Plantarium Shows

Live Sky TourLIz in the planetarium
Take a tour of the current night sky with planetarium staff in this special presentation that will identify constellations, planets and other celestial objects that grace the skies above Columbia. Guests will learn how the sky changes over the course of the night and journey through space to get a closeup look at Venus, Mars, and the Orion Nebula. Show Run Time: 30 mins.

National Parks Adventure National Parks Adventure, Planetarium, South Carolina, Columbia, Things To Do
This immersive visual experience takes viewers soaring over red rock canyons, hurtling up craggy mountain peaks and into other-worldly realms found within America’s most legendary outdoor playgrounds, including Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Yosemite, and Arches. Run time: 42 mins.

National Parks Adventure showtime: 7 p.m.


Observatory

Night-Sky Viewingobservatory
Open until 10 p.m.
Explore the night sky through the museum’s historic Alvan Clark telescope. Observing is included with museum general admission.

Acoustic Jam Sessions
Tues., Sept. 25, from 6 – 8 p.m. in the East Gallery
Join members of the South Carolina Bluegrass Association for a fun acoustic jam session in the museum’s East Gallery.
