Teacher Appreciation Night

In recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, the State Museum will be celebrating South Carolina teachers with a special, free evening event.

South Carolina teachers who are currently registered with the state and are currently teaching in a SC school district may visit the museum on this night and receive free general admission when they show their school i.d. Teachers can also receive up to 3 free general admission tickets for friends and family accompanied by them. Extra guests can purchase general admission for $5.

Activities will include:

  • A special preview of museum planetarium shows starting at 5:15, 6:45 and 8:15 p.m.

  • A chance to meet museum educators and astronomers to discuss all the resources the museum can offer for the upcoming 2019 – 2020 school year.

    5:45 p.m. – Electricity museum lesson demonstration.

    7:15 p.m. – States of matter museum lesson demonstration.

  • Demonstrations of museum educational programs on South Carolina history, natural history, robotics, outreach and more.

  • Observatory open for night-sky viewing and educators will be present to discuss available classes, distance learning and professional development opportunities.

Plus, each teacher will receive a free gift while supplies last (must be registered by 7 p.m.) and 10% off in the Cotton Mill Exchange.
