Campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of different camps while exploring the museum, experiencing 4D and planetarium shows, and engaging in problem based educational activities and STEM projects throughout the day. Click HERE to learn more.

 
 
 


 

Second Shift TwosdaysSecond_Shift_Moon
Every Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m.
The museum is open late every Tuesday until 10 p.m. for Second Shift Twosdays. Explore four floors of permanent and changing exhibits, special planetarium shows, 4D Theater films, evening viewing in the Observatory and more. Click HERE to learn more.

RACE: Are We So Different? Circles of Dialogue RACE Social Media Avatar
Select Tues. nights throughout the summer at 7 p.m.
Visitors to the museum’s current blockbuster exhibit, RACE: Are We So Different?, presented by Central Carolina Community Foundation, are invited to join a facilitator led Circle of Dialogue discussion group to explore their reactions to this thought-provoking exhibition.

Visitors are welcome to view the exhibit and join the discussion on the same evening, or if you have viewed the exhibit prior to this date you may return to join the Circle of Dialogue on this evening. Click HERE for a full list of dates.

This summer, on the fourth Friday of the month, you can see dazzling full-color and totally immersive full-dome laser shows set to some of your favorite music. From classic rock like Pink Floyd to Michael Jackson to EDM and beyond. Three different shows per night at 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Tickets are: $8 public/$6 members. Sun., July 3 from 12 to 5 p.m.
General admission to the South Carolina State Museum is only $1 for guests on First Citizens First Sunday! Included in general admission, guests can explore four floors of permanent and changing exhibits. Blockbuster exhibit admission, Planetarium and 4D Theater shows are an additional price. RACE: Are We So Different? Multicultural and Community Health Fair DayRACE Social Media Avatar
Sat., July 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
South Carolina is home to many diverse ethnic groups, and reflects a true melting pot of culture that has created the unique communities that we have here today. The multicultural day will include individuals from a variety of backgrounds represented by their traditional customs, food, dance and music. In conjunction, we will host a health fair to assist individuals with understanding the health disparities that exist and opportunities that are available to all people in the state. Museum Road ShowMuseum Road Show
Sat., Aug. 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Have you ever wondered if those items you found at the local flea market, antique shop, tag sale, or even in your basement and attic were actually worth something?
Whether it’s an heirloom, antique or artifact, local experts will be onsite in a variety of fields to offer informal verbal appraisals.
