Doing Our Part: South Carolina and PPE Production
Fri., May 22 at Noon

All over the country, various industries have changed course to produce PPE (personal protective equipment) for those who need it. In this virtual program, we’ll talk about PPE and how South Carolina businesses, universities and community volunteers have stepped up to help alleviate the shortage. Virtual Family Astronomy Night – Plenty O’ Planets
Fri., May 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Families are invited to join museum educators each Friday for a special, virtual program all about astronomy. Learn how planets are formed and then we’ll dive into the activity of the week, “Play Dough Planets”, which will give you a good idea of just how big, or small, your favorite planet might be compared to others. Telescope Livestream – Virtual Night-Sky Observing
Sat., May 23 at 9:30 p.m.

Join State Museum Boeing Observatory staff for a live look at the night sky – virtually! Each Saturday night, weather permitting, staff will livestream a telescope feed. Have a question or comment? Staff will monitor the stream and respond as needed. The livestream will be available via the museum’s Facebook page.


S.T.E.A.M. at Home: Slime Time
Tues., May 26 at 6:30 p.m.

By popular demand we bring you: Slime Time! Join Ms. Laura and Ms. Liz as we show you how to make three different types of slime. Don’t worry – you don’t have to make all three. The recipe lists are below and we will make all three types throughout the night so you can choose to just make one or all of them. Get ready to get a little messy! Virtual Trivia Night – Starstruck

Test your knowledge on space and astronomy! Streaming into the comfort of your living room, just stay in your pajamas, and grab your computer to join our museum team as we bring you a live scored trivia game. Let’s Get Digital: Digitizing the Museum’s Art Collection
Fri., May 29 at Noon

This virtual program will go behind the scenes and show the process involved in the State Museum’s effort to digitize its extensive Art Collection. So far, museum staff has photographed over 2,000 objects and uploaded over 6,000 images to our collections database! Registration required (members get early access) and capacity is limited.
