The South Carolina State Museum is committed to continuing to fulfill our mission to providing educational environments that entertain and inspire. See below for new and upcoming programs – onsite and online.

Please Note: for health and safety the museum is managing gallery and theater capacity, requiring social distancing, and has increased cleaning frequency. Per Gov. McMaster’s executive order, guests aged 3 and above are required to wear a face covering while visiting state buildings.

Virtual Sky Tour

Join State Museum Planetarium Manager, Liz Klimek, on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month as she takes viewers on a virtual planetarium sky tour across our solar system and beyond. Check out the museum’s Facebook page to access the new episode.


Virtual Crafty Jammies Storytime – The Lorax
Tues., April 13 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom

Join the SCSM the 2nd Tuesday of every month for a very special bedtime story and craft time with some of our favorite literary characters! This month The Lorax will make an appearance and help read a special bedtime story. The program is free, but registration is required. Click HERE to learn more.


SC Jazz – Live at the State Museum!
Fri., April 30 at 7 p.m.

In honor of Jazz Appreciation month, the State Museum and The ColaJazz Foundation will host a live outdoor concert on the museum’s front drive. Featuring South Carolina Jazz performed by The Mark Rapp Group, this exciting event will be fun for the whole family. Click HERE to learn more.
