The First Sunday of Every Month

General admission to the South Carolina State Museum is only $1 for guests on First Sunday! Included in general admission, guests can explore four floors of permanent and changing exhibits. Planetarium and 4D Theater shows are an additional price. Click HERE to learn more.

 
 


 

Second Shift Twosdays
Every Tuesday from 5 – 10 p.m.
General admission is 2 for $10!

Summer Camps
June, July and August

Toy Soldier DayToy Soldier
Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Exquisitely detailed military miniature figures or the little plastic G.I. Joes from your childhood, they’re all showcased at the Southeastern Toy Soldier Show. See, buy, or trade toy soldiers or other military miniatures from various periods of history and throughout the day.

 
 


 

Science on Tap at the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery and Ale House
Sat., Aug. 10 from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Join State Museum astronomers and the Midlands Astronomy Club at Hunter-Gatherer Brewery (Curtis-Wright Hangar) for a fun, informal talk with local experts. Guests can ask questions and enjoy a telescope viewing of the Moon, weather permitting, after the presentation. Location: 1402 Jim Hamilton Blvd. Columbia, SC 29205.. Fall Teacher PreviewFall Teacher Preview
Tuesday, Sept. 3
South Carolina teachers who are currently registered with the state and have an official school I.D. will receive free general admission. The museum will offer special previews of planetarium shows, a chance to meet museum educators and astronomers, demonstrations on SC history, natural history, robotics, outreach and more.
