Night-Sky and Telescope Viewing 101

Sat., Jan. 20 or Sat., Feb. 24 from 6 – 8 p.m.

If your child got a telescope for the holidays, or just wants to learn more about the night sky, this workshop is a great place to get started. Learn how to navigate the night sky and the basics of telescope observing. You’ll assemble your own star wheels and learn how to use them to find stars and constellations. We’ll then show you what you can see in a small telescope.

If you have a telescope, feel free to bring it for an opportunity to practice telescope viewing with guidance from State Museum astronomy educators. In the event of inclement weather, we’ll experience the basics of telescope observing in an indoor format.
