This kid-friendly planetarium show, explores the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun with the help of Coyote, an amusing character adapted from Native American oral traditions who has many misconceptions about our home planet and its most familiar neighbors. Show Run Time: 25 mins.
This show tells the story of the telescope, how it was invented and how it works from Galileo’s modifications to the launch of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope. Featuring spectacular imagery of Saturn’s rings and beautiful stellar nurseries, this show highlights how telescopes have helped us understand our place in the Universe. At the end of the show, there will be a live 10-minute sky tour. Show Run Time: 20 mins.
Take a tour of the night sky with planetarium staff in this special presentation that will identify constellations, planets and other celestial objects that grace the skies above Columbia. Guests will learn how the sky changes over the course of the night and journey through space to Venus, Mars, Jupiter, The Pleiades, and The Orion Nebula. Show Run Time: 25 mins.
This new blockbuster exhibition brings to life one of the most technologically significant times in history by showcasing more than 30 intricately designed and functional inventions from the height of the Roman Empire, including: war machines, transportation machines, Roman arches, gladiator replicas, hands-on activities, computer animations and more.
Time and Place: the Artwork of James Fowler Cooper
Beautiful Lowcountry landscapes, farm labor and life growing up in rural South Carolina are all scenes depicted in this exhibition which tells the story of the Lowcountry through the eyes of South Carolina printmaker James Fowler Cooper. Cooper (1907-1968), a self-taught printmaker who grew up on a farm in Williamsburg, S.C., chronicled the people and places near his hometown through his work.
