Looking for a dedicated homeschool day at the museum? Join us on select Thursdays throughout the school year for Homeschool Thursdays, an afternoon with programming just for South Carolina homeschool families to explore the museum, connect with other homeschoolers, and participate in special educational programs.
Families are welcome to explore the museum together, meet other homeschoolers, or register for one or more of our special educational programs. Whether you’re interested in a planetarium show, a 4D theater film, or a hands-on STEAM activity, you can customize your afternoon to fit your family’s interests.

Important Information
Admission & Program Pricing
General Museum Admission is FREE for one registered South Carolina homeschool teacher and their homeschool students.
Planetarium Shows: $3 per person
4D Theater Films: $3 per person
STEAM & History Programs: Free
Additional Guests: Regular museum admission rates apply.
Registration
Registration is available online only and cannot be completed by phone or email.
Registration opens the Friday following each Homeschool Thursday, allowing families to register one month at a time.
Registration closes at 12pm on the Wednesday before each event.
We are unable to maintain a waitlist. After registration closes, you’re still welcome to visit the museum as a walk-up guest. If space becomes available due to cancellations or no-shows, we’ll be happy to add you to a program.
Eligibility
Homeschool Thursdays are designed for South Carolina homeschool families.
Free museum admission and discounted program pricing are available for one registered homeschool teacher and the students listed under that homeschool registration.
Documentation verifying your homeschool status may be requested before or during your visit. This includes:
A homeschool association registration card or acceptance letter.
A school district homeschool registration card or approval letter.
A South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools (SCAIHS) registration card or acceptance letter.
Documentation must be current and match the registered homeschool educator.
During Your Visit
You’re welcome to arrive earlier in the day and enjoy the museum before afternoon programs begin. Just visit the Admissions Desk when you arrive.
Participation in a scheduled program is optional. You’re welcome to simply enjoy the museum and connect with other homeschool families.
Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, including during museum exploration, shows, and programs.
Friends, relatives, and additional guests are welcome to visit the museum with your family. Regular museum admission rates apply.
Only registered homeschool participants may take part in Homeschool Thursday programs unless an adult is serving as the chaperone of a participant under 18 years of age.
Reservation Policies
Reservations are non-transferable and may only be used by the family that registered.
