Museum Members!
You are invited to enjoy exclusive, members-only access to the upcoming exhibition, American Battleground: South Carolina's Revolution, with an early access preview before public viewing hours, followed by Salute to 250 Day.
The first major exhibition completed as part of the Reimagine the Experience campaign, this new display will open in June 2026 in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States. The exhibition focuses on South Carolina’s critical role in declaring and fighting for independence. It will feature important objects from the museum's collection as well as interactive elements that will help guests explore the more than 400 battles and skirmishes fought in South Carolina and discover the surprising stories of the people – patriots, loyalists, women, enslaved, free blacks, and indigenous people – who comprised South Carolina’s revolutionary experience.
Plus, enjoy a screening of the new planetarium experience, Revolutionary Astronomers, created by the museum's own amazing team of astronomy educators.
Revolutionary Astronomers is a new live planetarium show that takes audiences back in time to the American Revolution to discover the crossroads between history and astronomy. Audiences follow the stories of David Rittenhouse, Samuel Williams, and Benjamin Banneker, three astronomers of the day who contributed not only to science, but also the development of the newly forming United States. Through a combination of live narration, immersive audio, and visuals, Revolutionary Astronomers aims to take audiences across the nation, over waters, and, of course, to the stars to discover how three unknown figures in astronomy contributed to a growing nation.
A light breakfast will also be available, along with local mobile coffee shop Death Before Decaf!
