Planetarium Shows

Unimaginably powerful, relentless, and invisible, black holes are some of the most fascinating and extreme objects in the universe. They warp space and time, swallow up stars, and can grow to monstrous sizes. How do they form? Where are they found? What would happen to you if you fell into one? Go on a mind-bending journey that brings you face to face with these strange and enigmatic denizens of the cosmos. Show Run Time: 35 mins.

Black Holes showtime: 6 p.m.

Live Sky TourLIz in the planetarium
Take a tour of the current night sky with planetarium staff in this special presentation that will identify constellations, planets and other celestial objects that grace the skies above Columbia. Guests will learn how the sky changes over the course of the night and journey through space to get a closeup look at Venus, Mars, and the Orion Nebula. Show Run Time: 30 mins.

4D Theater

PLANET EARTH II 4D EXPERIENCE®
Experience the world from the viewpoint of animals themselves as bears, jaguars, eagles, iguanas and snakes overcome the challenges of surviving in the wildest places on Earth. Based on the award-winning BBC series, Planet Earth II 4D Experience® brings us closer to the mesmerizing animal kingdom than ever before. Run time: 16 mins.

The Martian 4D
Academy Award® winner Matt Damon stars as Mark Watney, a brave astronaut who must utilize his scientific ingenuity, wit and spirit to overcome being stranded alone on Mars. Stellar 3D projection and action-heightening special effects will have you rooting for the safe return of the lone Martian! Run time: 15 mins.

Night-Sky Viewingobservatory
Open until 10 p.m.
Explore the night sky through the museum’s historic Alvan Clark telescope. Observing is included with museum general admission.
