Virtual Planetarium Sky Tour

Join State Museum planetarium manager, Liz Klimek, on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month for a virtual exploration of the stars, planets and constellations you can observe in night-sky. These programs premier on the museum’s Facebook page at the designated time listed above.


Friday Night Laser Lights – Pop Royalty
Fri., July 15 | Doors open at 6 p.m. Shows at 7 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 10 p.m.

Tues., July 19 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

The museum will host Dr. Nicol Turner Lee for a program in conjunction with the Richland Library’s Let’s Talk Race series. Dr. Turner Lee will discuss how to identify and address online biases in new technologies and ask how we can combat their role in online misinformation. Super Dog Saturday – Adoption Day
Sat., July 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Guests are invited to visit the State Museum to meet – and hopefully adopt – a new four-legged friend and family member available through Columbia Animal Services. Plus, local vendors will also be on site selling dog treats and more great pet friendly items! Click HERE to learn more.

Inspired by the amazing heroic animals featured in the museum’s planetarium experience, Superpower Dogs, the State Museum is partnering with Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services (PAALS) for a special day all about service animals.
