In this live program, an educator will take you on a tour of the sky above, explaining concepts such as constellations, asterisms, and celestial navigation. Along the way we’ll discuss the differences between various celestial objects like stars and planets, the reasons why stars vary in color and brightness and the basic properties of the Moon. We’ll also use our powerful digital sky system to demonstrate the apparent motion of the stars throughout the day and night as the Earth spins on its axis, as well as throughout the year as the Earth orbits the Sun. If time permits, we’ll go over moon phases and even launch ourselves into space and take a quick look at the structure of the solar system.
