Volunteer

We are excited to announce that applications are now open for teen volunteers to apply to assist with our 2026 Summer Camps here at the South Carolina State Museum! If you are between the ages of 13-17 and looking for a fun and rewarding way to spend your summer, we encourage you to apply.
 

As a teen volunteer, you will play an important role in supporting our summer camps by:

• Assisting in classrooms and demonstrating activities
• Helping campers explore the museum
• Organizing materials and supplies

• Engaging campers through games and hands-on learning

   

  Camp and Volunteer Shift Details

• Summer Camp runs from June 1 - July 31, 2026, except for the week of June 29 - July 3.

    - We host 6-8 year old camps and 9-12 year old camps

• Teen Volunteers can sign up for full-day (8:30am-3:30pm) or half-day shifts (8:30am-12pm or 12pm-3:30pm).
   

This is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, earn volunteer hours, and gain experience working with younger children in a museum setting.

The deadline for this application is Friday April 24, 2026. Please note that late applications will not be considered. We get dozens of volunteer requests every summer and, unfortunately, not every applicant is accepted as spaces are very limited.

*After review of applications, selected applicants will be invited to participate in a brief, virtual interview with camp staff. All teen volunteers accepted into this summer’s program must attend a training session before camps begin.
