Guests are invited to explore the universe in the 55ft digital dome BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina planetarium, take an up-close look at the Sun in the Boeing Observatory and a historic collection of telescopes dating from 1730 to the present day.
Established in 2014, the Astronomy Center at the South Carolina State Museum also continues to serve as a vital educational resource for teachers and students. From on site field trip opportunities to outreach programs and virtual learning, museum educators are committed to providing engaging, standards-based content to make learning come to life in classrooms here at the museum and across the State.

The 55-foot digital dome BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Planetarium takes guests on journeys to the deepest reaches of space and beyond.
The 2,500 square foot Boeing Observatory features the historic 1926 Alvan Clark 12 3/8-inch refracting telescope with daily solar observing and select night-sky viewing times available.
Robert B. Ariail Collection of Historical Astronomy includes instruments from the 18th century to the modern day.
